For the purposes of UK data protection law, ReadyToRetire.uk is the data controller responsible for your personal information.

What data we collect
When you use our free calculator without creating an account, we do not collect or store any personal data — all calculations run in your browser and no information is sent to our servers.

When you create an account, we collect: your email address (for login and account management), a password (encrypted, we cannot see it), and any financial details you choose to enter and save, including age, pension details, savings, and estimated expenses.

Why we collect it
We process your data for the following purposes: to provide the retirement guidance service you have requested, to save your details so you can return and update them, to maintain and improve the service, and to communicate with you about your account. Our legal basis for processing under UK GDPR is that it is necessary for the performance of the service you have requested (Article 6(1)(b)).

Where your data is stored
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database service hosted on Amazon Web Services in the European Union. Your data does not leave the EU/UK. Supabase encrypts data both in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to the database is protected by row-level security, meaning only you can access your own data when logged in.

We retain your data for as long as you have an active account. If you delete your account, your data will be permanently removed within 30 days. If your account is inactive for more than 24 months, we may contact you before deleting your data.

Cookies and local storage
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. When you log in, a session token is stored in your browser's local storage to keep you signed in between visits. This is essential for the service to function and is not used for tracking. We do not use any third-party analytics services.

Third parties
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties. The only third-party service that processes your data is Supabase (our database and authentication provider), which acts as a data processor on our behalf. Supabase's privacy policy is available at supabase.com/privacy.

Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you, correct any inaccurate data, request deletion of your data, request a copy of your data in a portable format, object to or restrict our processing of your data, and withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent). To exercise any of these rights, please email us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.

Data security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encryption in transit and at rest, row-level database security, and secure authentication. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
